Position Overview

Adams & Martin Group has partnered with a client to find an experienced Legal Secretary to join their team in Florida. The Legal Secretary will provide essential secretarial services for attorneys and facilitate the provision of legal services to the community. This role requires a dedicated professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to maintaining high standards of legal and administrative support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide secretarial services for the attorney, facilitating the provision of legal services to the community.
  • Prepare or transcribe legal pleadings, documents, letters, and other materials necessary for legal services.
  • Prepare the requisite number of copies as indicated by the document prepared or requested by case handlers.
  • Receive and screen visitors and telephone calls for assigned attorneys and take messages as appropriate.
  • Notarize documents.
  • Utilize the pleading bank system to generate documents in response to requests from case handlers.
  • Assist other legal secretaries as needed and cover for their absence.
  • Assist assigned attorneys in maintaining calendars, case files, and scheduling meetings, appointments, and court hearings.
  • Translate letters and documents if bilingual and if a translator is unavailable.
  • Assist in backlog of data entry or other administrative work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years in legal field administrative or secretarial experience.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use online resources.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 60 words per minute and successfully pass a secretarial skill test.
  • Knowledge of technical legal terms, various legal forms, and documents, or demonstrated ability to learn quickly with prior experience as a general office secretary.
  • Ability to deal effectively with clients.
  • Ability to willingly accept directions, exhibit a spirit of teamwork, and have a work record reflecting dependability including prompt and regular availability.

Required Work Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Benefits

The position offers competitive pay with a salary range of $21 to $26 per hour.
